Positive COVID 19 case: Communique To Families

December 5, 2020

Dear Family Member:

During these challenging times of great stress and uncertainty and after weeks and months of working very hard to prevent the spread of COVID 19 from entering into the homes of the people we support, we now are faced with a person we support receiving a positive diagnosis of this virus.

Earlier this week, as a precaution, this person who receives services at 114 Concession Street in Bowmanville attended to a COVID-19 test center and this afternoon we received confirmation that the person has tested positive.

While waiting to receive the outcome of the test the person has been isolated in their room.  Now with a positive diagnosis they will continue to isolate for the next 14 days and we are receiving guidance from the Durham Region Public health with respect to how we proceed and our next steps.

Please know that the Direct Support Professionals who are providing care and support, are using full personal protective equipment (PPE).

Please be assured that The Participation House Project (Durham Region) is taking all direction from the Durham Region’s Health Unit with continuing the implementation of protective measures to contain exposure given the vulnerable population we serve while following our Outbreak Protocol. We will continue to follow the guidance of Durham Region Health unit as a means of keeping both the others residing at that location and staff supporting them safe.

Should you have you haven any questions or concerns with regard to the health and welfare of your loved one, please contact the Service Manager at the location where your family member resides.

Stay safe, Stay well
