The Participation House – COVID-19 Update – August 7, 2020

We are happy to advise that we are well into implementation of Phase III initiatives such as, safely welcoming visitors to our locations, facilitating in-person activities between family members, as well as re-engaging with Community Families through our “Covid-19 version” of our Life Readiness Respite Program.

The Participation House Project (Durham Region) continues to remain current and adjust our protocols so that they align with the advice and practices shared through our government and the Ontario Health Organization and so we can assure you that we are maintaining a Healthy, Safe Workplace and Service environment for all.

Our commitment to keep the threats of COVID-19 at bay are ever present aswe increase our interactions within the community.  We have been diligent, responsible and supportive to helping educate families and their loved ones on how we together we can safely begin to overlap our social circles while ensuring we all do our part to help keep everyone safe.

Our three-pronged approach which ensures that as an organization we are; proactive, responsible, and responsive while being keenly aware of the need to move forward, while remaining diligent in our commitment to handle and mitigate the risks involved in the re-engagement/re-opening process.

We have successfully been offering the Life Readiness Program for three weeks.  Focus has been on Covid-19 education, safety, life skills development in navigating our new world and fun of course!  We are happy to share some of the feedback we have received thus far:

“Kyle enjoyed the break from home. He also learned about the need for routine sanitizing and washing- something that was not obvious to him at home the past few months. He was asking us why we didn’t sanitize our bathroom at home every time we used it – we thought it was a good question showing that he was thinking about things.

We felt confident that good Covid practices were in place when dropping him off each day. The pictures shared through email also demonstrated good distancing while eating. I think you all did a great job providing a program safely during this pandemic. Thanks for all your work with the program. “

As an organization, we pride ourselves on the fact that we continue to have kept the virus at bay and both your loved ones and our staff safe. We appreciate your genuine commitment to help us with this through your engagement at our locations. Thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times and your ongoing support.  We are all in this together, everyone’s safety is paramount.
